NPC CHAIRMAN ATTENDS 6TH NATIONAL DAY OF IDENTITY CELEBRATION

Today, 16th September 2024, the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, fnsa, delivered a goodwill message at the 6th National Day of Identity held at NAF Conference Centre, Abuja. 

This year's theme, "Digital Public Infrastructure: Enabling Access to Services," highlights the critical role of technology in expanding service accessibility. 

The event was organized by the NIMC and had in attendance the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON; Chairman House Committee on National Population and Identity, Hon. Okunjimi Odimayo; Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Director-General of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote; National Commissioner/CEO, Nigeria Data Protection Commission, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, among other dignitaries. 

NPC Chairman, while making his remarks, reinforced the NPC's commitment to stakeholder collaboration and accelerating legal identity for all Nigerians (SDG 16:9).

He further stressed that as a critical stakeholder, NPC is deeply interested in the conversation around digital identity, as Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) are fundamental to establishing an inclusive, reliable, and comprehensive national identity system.
